Are you looking for the most safe Caribbean islands? These islands are safe for solo and family travelers, as well as the best places to spend your time.

The Caribbean is my favorite region due to its beautiful weather, laid-back vibes and great activities. But not all Caribbean islands offer the same level of safety. It is important to be aware of the risks and take precautions.

However, it doesn’t matter where you travel transparency to the Caribbean, common sense security measures will help you remain safe.

Be aware that hurricane season is a good time to plan your trip. Also, keep your valuables safe.

You’re likely to have a wonderful time in the Caribbean, provided you are aware of possible dangers.

Aruba

Aruba, located just offshore of Venezuela’s hurricane belt, is a safe and secure destination that almost guarantees great weather regardless of when you visit.

Aruba’s compact size and modernity make it easy to get around. You won’t be bored with things to do, thanks to the many adventure activities and cultural experiences available.

Safety is important in Aruba. Don’t forget to lock your doors and keep your valuables safe. Sunscreen is a must, since the UV rays can be quite intense.

Aruba: Where to Stay

The Renaissance Aruba Resort is a great choice for a luxurious stay. Talk of the Town Beach Hotel is a more affordable option.

Turks & Caicos

Although technically located in the Atlantic Ocean, the Turks & Caicos Islands are still considered part of the Caribbean.

Turks & Caicos is ranked as one of the most safe islands in the Caribbean. This includes both crime overall and against tourists. You can expect a wide variety of activities on Turks & Caicos, including whale watching, kiteboarding and snorkeling, as well as a BBQ and checking out the local history.

It is important to remember that most people live on Providenciales’ main island. As such, the majority of crime occurs there. However, it is still quite safe. Tourists are not harmed in South Caicos or North Caicos.

Be aware that Turks & Caicos does not have a widespread public transport system, so be careful when moving around. Taxis are available, but you should confirm the cost before you take the car. Drivers might try to increase the fare after you reach your destination.

You’ll see minibuses or “jitneys” along with taxis. However, they are mostly used by local workers and should be avoided. Renting a car is the best way to travel transparency.

Point Grace Resort & Spa offers luxurious accommodation that will not disappoint. La Vista Azul Resort in Turtle Bay is a great value mid-budget option.

Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands, located in the western Caribbean Sea are made up Grand Cayman (the largest main island), Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. They offer everything from luxurious villas to quiet beaches.

Relaxing resorts, amazing scuba diving on Grand Cayman, great fishing off Cayman Brac and diverse wildlife like Iguanas or Red-footed Boobies in Little Cayman are just a few of the many options.

Although crime against tourists is not common in the Cayman Islands, it’s possible for pickpocketing to occur if there are large cruise-ship groups. If you plan to spend time in the water, be aware of Jellyfish and Scorpionfish. They can give you a painful sting and often disguise themselves well.

Where to stay in the Cayman Islands

The Kimpton Seafire Resort, Grand Cayman’s most luxurious resort, is highly recommended. Sunshine Suites Resort, Grand Cayman’s mid-range resort, is a great choice.

St. Maarten

St. Maarten, a beautiful Caribbean island, is administered by the French and Dutch. It’s a luxury destination with excellent shopping, nightlife and beaches. Although it is a small island, it makes up for its lack of land mass with beauty and other activities.

St. Maarten is a safe island, with crime against tourists being relatively low. However, there have been reports of passport theft, petty theft and car burglaries. So be careful with your valuables. Lock up anything you don’t need in a safe and make sure nothing is left in your car.

Princess Port de Plaisance, a beautiful luxury resort in Philipsburg is a great choice. Sea View Beach Hotel and Alicia’s Inn also make great budget-friendly options if you’re on a tight budget.

St. Lucia

It never ceases to amaze me no matter how many times we visit St. Lucia. The island has a stunning coastline and lush vegetation. It also boasts mountains that rise above the ocean. If you’re in St. Lucia, I highly recommend Pigeon Island National Park and Castries Market as well as Tet Paul Nature Trail and the luxurious Sulfur Springs.

Safety precautions to consider when visiting St. Lucia include: Avoid walking alone in remote areas at night, taking taxi precautions, and not off-roading with a rental car unless you have a 4×4 because roads can be narrow and bumpy at times.

Camouflage is prohibited in St. Lucia because it can be interpreted as imitation of military personnel.

Caribbean Packing Essentials

Sun Protection: I wouldn’t recommend going to the tropics without wearing a sun hat or baseball cap, quality sunglasses and sunscreen that is reef-safe.

Water Gear: I don’t leave the Caribbean without a quick-drying towel and rash guard, a snorkel set, a swimsuit, and a cover up. Rubber-soled water shoes are recommended because of the dangers of stinging fish, urchins, and other hazards.

Protect your skin with bug spray and long-sleeved light clothing for evenings in the Caribbean.
